Gather

The New Jersey Bell-to-bell policy was introduced to the state earlier this year. It restricts high school students from using cell phones during school day. While many students have found themselves returning to face-to-face socialization and focusing more in class, some challenges remain when students are trying to reach out to each other.

The project Gather is a non-internet-reliant device that allow student users to setup meeting requests and locations to find their peers and share their emotional status. It uses minimalism design that intentionally limits the emotionally high-rewarding user inputs compared to other digital devices to enhance the actual social interactions between student bodies on campus.
